Retire to Australia
Many people have a vision of where they would like to live and what they would like to be doing when they retire. A laid back lifestyle and a location with a warm temperate climate are usually high up the list and for this reason many people select Australia as their location of choice. Synonymous with the idea of golden beaches and warm weather, in addition to providing a laid back lifestyle, the Australian Retirement Visa allows Brits to complete their dream of overseas retirement.
For people looking to lead this kind of lifestyle, the Australian Retirement Visa is the perfect opportunity to combine retirement and investment for a secure future. The criteria to apply for a retirement visa is quite strict and includes: the applicant having no dependent children or family members, having a minimum net income stream as set by the Government, having evidence of private health insurance, being over the age of 55 and being of good character and in good health.
The Investor Retirement (Subclass 405) Visa is the initial option for people looking to apply for their first Retirement Visa. Holders of this visa are allowed to spend up to 20 hours per week working to supplement their income and remain in Australia for up to four years.
This also allows for multiple travel and for the holder to bring their partner to Australia. In order to apply for this visa, potential applicants must be able to prove that they can make a significant long-term investment to the Australian society through their assets and potential income over the next few years.
The Retirement Visa is an extension of the Investor Retirement Visa and allows potential holders to remain in Australia for a further 10 years throughout their retirement. The restrictions on this visa are relaxed to allow the holder to work any amount of hours per week and to allow their partner to remain in Australia with them. This visa can only be applied for if the holder already has a valid Investor Retirement Visa.
