People who spend a lot of time out-of-doors should be aware that annoying mosquitoes can carry a range of virus-caused diseases that could be fatal.
Most people have already heard about the correlation between mosquitoes and West Nile virus. However, there are numerous other diseases mosquitoes carry that the general population does not know about. It is an unfortunate fact that if the news does not report a person contracting a mosquito carried disease, nearly everyone wouldn’t even be aware these diseases even exist. The mosquito genus Anopheles cause over 5.3 million fatalities to occur each year. They are the mosquitoes that bring the malaria virus. Children below the age of five make up most of these fatalities.
Nearly all mosquitoes are capable of harboring the filariasis worm, the causative agent of the disease elephantiasis. Approximately 40 million people worldwide are currently suffering from some form of this illness.
Although these facts seem terrible, they are not the most terrifying part of the mosquito problem. As we grow older, mosquito bites are often undetected. In children, mosquito bites often cause their skin to swell up & turn red. In full grown individuals, however, they tend to build resistance to these bites.
