If you have a teenager between the ages of 16 and 18 and they are in search of a good summer job, then they have several options that they can choose from. Many older teens prefer to have a job so that they have their own spending money and can afford to buy things that they need. They may save up for a car or just want money to go out with friends, but they need money and it is a good time to get them into making it themselves through a job.
By finding a place that teens can work they will be able to earn their own money, depend less on their parents, and begin learning some valuable life lessons in the process. Especially in today’s world, it is good for them to get some first hand knowledge about how the real world works and what having a job is like.
Older teens have several job opportunities available to them. Fast food establishments are a classic choice, they often hire teens as clerks, cooks, drive thru workers and other positions in these restaurants.
If your teen does not want to work fast food there are still a lot of jobs that are available. During sporting events there are different jobs that teens can do such as sell hot dogs and cokes or be ambassadors to people who have club seating. Retail jobs at the mall often are prime jobs for 16 year olds and above.
Your teen may come to you for help in finding a job you can share your ideas with them, give them encouragement, and even give them rides to places to collect and turn in applications. Teens can find more work than you might think, consider your teen’s strengths and what they enjoy and work off of that. If they’re interested in and enjoy the job they’re working at they’re much more likely to stay with it and earn more money.
