How Halal-Certified Restaurants Affect Customer Choices
Many of us have seen the term Halal Restaurant put up on establishments, but not all of us know what it means. More and more food products and eateries put up this sign. And even though we have an idea that it must have something to do with Islam, we don’t know for sure what it is.
To simplify its meaning, Halal means lawful in Islamic laws. A halal-certified eatery means our Muslim friends can allow themselves to eat in the establishment without fear of breaking any Islamic laws. Being halal-certified means all the ingredients used and the preparations of the food are in accordance of the rules of Sharia, or the way Muslims should live.
You can say that a halal restaurant attends to of all its customers. It’s easy to be a halal restaurant in Muslim nations, but in areas that have combined religious groups, not every establishment hassles themselves to be halal-certified. So when a restaurant opts to be a halal restaurant and practices all food preparation according to the Islamic principles when it is located in a country where there are miscellaneous groups, then it just means that it prioritizes all the customers they have.
Even if halal-certified restaurants are growing, being one isn’t as simple as simply putting up a sign outside the place and announcing they abide by the Islamic rules. It takes meticulous practice from start to finish. From the slaughtering of its meat to the selection of a meal’s ingredients, to the preparation of the menu.
And if that still sounds simple, it does not stop there. There are many other practices and rules an eatery must abide by before it becomes halal-certified. Examples include preventing cross-contamination of products by keeping the utensils and materials used for the cooking of non-halal items away from those being used for halal products.
Halal-certified restaurants give their clients more selections. For our Muslim friends, halal eateries allow them to dine in and savor good food without compromising their religious beliefs. They don’t need to settle for less food quality. That is how halal restaurants give more value to their customers.
