Inmate Rehabilitation – The correctional officer also helps in the inmate’s development and rehabilitation. The prison system is developed for the purpose of making the convicted persons here fit to return to society. So they assist inmates during library visits, training and work assignments. Inmate Transportation – Correctional officers also assists in transporting and escorting inmates from one location to the other. Like a transfer to a different prison or even just going to court for a hearing. Correctional Officers trained or assigned to these duties are allowed to carry with them weapons. This is so that things are ensured to go smoothly and don’t go out of hand. It is vital to avoid prisoners who are in the general populace to cause chaos or escape.
