Facebook and Facebook Advertising Can Explode Your Business
If you have a Facebook fan page for your business you have taken the first step toward having a good social media presence to improve your online marketing reach within your target audience. But what are you supposed to do if you see that you haven’t been getting a lot of “fans” on Facebook? You may want to consider Facebook advertising.
Facebook advertising allows you to develop an ad easily on Facebook and then aim it specifically to your target audience. You can target the ad as broad or as narrow as you need. It’s terrific for small businesses that want to focus an ad to their exact target audience. Once you set the specifications of your Facebook ad it then shows up along the side of profiles of those who fit your descriptions that you select when you create and target the ad. They see it, and if it interests them, hopefully click on it to become a fan on your page.
The downside to Facebook advertising is the ad shows up on people’s pages where information is listed. Someone may be a mom or married but unless their Facebook page says so somewhere they won’t see the ad. Even with the downside Facebook advertising has big potential.
If you think about the amount of people that are on Facebook, even ones that don’t have much listed on their profile, you will see that Facebook advertising can reach a huge number of targeted people that you didn’t have marketing access to before.
There are two ways to set up your Facebook ad campaign. You can pay by impression or pay by click. Usually businesses opt for the pay for impressions first to see if the ad is working or not. Then once the business determines that there are enough impressions they switch to the pay for click method since it can be less expensive. The pay per click means you have to pay every time someone clicks on your ad but the hope is that if someone clicks on it they will go to your Facebook fan page to learn more about your business and then want to purchase items or services from you.
Once people start to visit your Facebook page you need to make sure they get interested in your business. You can run promotions on your fan page or have exclusive content just on your Facebook page where you must become a fan before seeing. This can generate buzz around your business and get people talking about your products and services, as people will likely tell friends and family about your business, if your content or promotions are attractive.
