Eating Sweet Desserts Without The Guilt
You know you desire it. But for some reasons, you just can’t. Sweets are truly enticing just by looking at it. How much more enticing it can be if you sink your teeth into its soft, succulent, dark cake? The downside of eating those lush desserts is that it would surely wreck your hard work at the gym. You then wonder, is there a way you can eat desserts without gaining pounds on the weighing scale?
No and yes.
The answer is uncertain because there’s no specific answer. What works for some wouldn’t work for the others. If there are those who can consume a whole slice of fruit tart without worrying the fat on his/her thighs, there are those who aren’t so lucky. But for those who like dessert so much, that is not enough. So to give us dessert lovers a little peace of mind, since we just can’t shun them as much as we would wish to, let’s try to make sweets a little healthier for us.
To start with, take a healthy meal before taking your dessert. It just wouldn’t do if your main lunch and dessert are both calorie-filled. At least make your meal as healthy as possible so you can reward yourself with a decadently exquisite sweet later.
Pile up your desserts with healthy ingredients. Instead of all bad-for-your sweets, add some fruits to balance the healthy factors. But if you are purchasing instead of baking, then read look for those with organic ingredients and search those with “low fat,” low calorie,” no calorie” etc. on the tags.
Eat desserts in small portions. Those mini cakes you see in high-end bakeshops and restaurants are just the right size. You don’t need to supersize your dessert, a moderate size will be adequate.
And lastly, try to consume sinful desserts during special occasions only. Think of it like this, you are just making a dessert more special by eating them during special days. If you eat them daily, as unbelievable as this may sound, you might lose interest in them because they are not “off-limits” to you anymore. Eating the decadent sweets during special occasions doesn’t mean going missing desserts altogether every meal. Sweet desserts can be fruits in parfait or yogurt. Still has the goodness of a dessert without the guilt feelings.
Just like a good book, a meal isn’t complete without a sweet conclusion. You may have just had the heartiest meal in your life or the not-so-special dinner, but a meal isn’t complete without desserts.
