Bright American Doctors Who Have Won Nobel Peace Awards
American doctors are not just known for their good treatment of their patients. Many of them are also well known for discovering such diseases as diabetes. In fact many American doctors have even managed to get a Nobel Prize for their selfless works.
Here is a list of some of the famous American Doctors:
The first doctor that springs to mind was one of the founders of the Mayo clinic which was a non-profit medical organization that is well known worldwide. His name was Charles Horace Mayo.
It is hard to say how many people Charles mayo actually treated during his life but rumors say that it is close to a million. The headquarters of the May clinic can be found in Minnesota.
Keeping it in the family we now look at Charles’s oldest child who was William James Mayo. William was another of the founders of the world famous Mayo clinic. William joined his father at his private clinic after he finished his studies in the 1880′s. This private clinic later went on to become the famous Mayo clinic.
Then there was the great Physician and father of modern medicines the famous William Osler Abbot, who along with other things is remembered for his Miller Abbott tube.
Benjamin Spock is another great American doctor. This well known doctor, and author of the Baby and childcare book published in 1946, was well renowned for his treatment in child care. He did a lot of intensive studying on the subject and went on to pen the term of psychoanalysis.
The cure for Polio was found by one Jonas Salk who was in fact the son of immigrant Jewish/Russian parentage. He later went on to study and research many other viruses too.
When it came to diabetes we can thank Elliot P Joslin for his contributions on this disease. He was so informative to his patients about the disease that they soon started the diabetes self management system of diabetes care. He later went on to form the world famous Joslin Diabetes center.
